Pamela O’Krent creates textured, multimedia collages using fabric, oil pastel, found objects, and stitching on paper. Her work focuses on collage-based processes using found fabrics and papers, exploring how materials carry traces of time and memory. Through additive and subtractive techniques, she explores tensions between the abstract and the figurative, the raw and the polished.
O’Krent’s process-oriented practice incorporates intention and chance in equal measure, letting the materials drive the making in a visual call and response. A deep reverence for nature developed as a child in northern Minnesota influences the artist’s choice of subject matter, which includes floral imagery and patterns found in the natural world. O’Krent earned a BFA from the University of Minnesota, Duluth, and has completed residencies in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, and Florence, Italy. Her work has been exhibited at venues including Craighead Green Gallery and Valley House Gallery, and is held in private collections. She lives and works in Dallas, Texas.
